Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) Explained

When you hear the phrase “Disaster Recover” your are probably thinking of inhospitable environments or locations that suffer from extreme weather events. Did you know that most “Disaster” events occur from system failures, human error or cyber-attack? Your data is your most valuable assets and the loss of data can have a detrimental effect on your business. Research has shown that, up to 60% of company’s that experience a major data loss will likely go out of business within 6 months.  In fact, worldwide just 1% of data loss occurs from natural disasters.

What is DRaaS

DRaaS stands from Disaster Recovery as a Service which is a cloud-based service provided by a third-party vendor. What this means for your business, is that in the event of a partial or total data loss, this service will ensure business continuity, allowing for the rapid retrieval of the lost data.  Here at IT.ie we are delighted to announce our partnership with leading data protection specialists Datastring. Datastring DRaaS appliances (5 or 20TB) snapshots all of your data both locally and to the Datastring Cloud, ensuring rapid recovery of lost data and minimal downtime for your business.

How it Works

Our DRaaS lets you protect anything, anywhere — systems, apps and data — whether it’s physical, virtual or in the cloud. Our expert team configure the correct DRaaS appliance for your requirements. The appliance snapshots servers and applications both locally and to the Datastring Cloud. Servers can be recovered and booted locally to the DRaaS appliance for local failover, or in Datastring Cloud for offsite failover in a DR scenario. Restore data at any level, from a single file, message or data object to a complete physical or virtual machine, even to dissimilar hardware.
